Austin HC was a Boston band that formed in the late 1960s around Tom Scholz and Fran Sheehan. They recorded demos in Scholz's basement before signing with Epic Records in 1976. Their self-titled debut album came out the next year and included 'Sweet Caroline,' which became a hit.
Scholz was known for being meticulous in the studio, which sometimes slowed things down. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain was part of the band until 1982, when he left to join Journey. Austin HC kept going with guitarist Gary Pihl and released a few more albums before calling it quits in 1992.
