Avattara

Avattara formed in Stockholm in 2003. The band included vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith, guitarist Markus Johansson, bassist Mikael Dahlqvist, and drummer Tommy Eriksson. Their sound drew from folk, metal, and electronic elements, with lyrics that leaned toward symbolism and mystery.

They released albums like "Shadowlight" in 2005, "Medeusa" in 2007, and the concept album "Project: World" in 2010. Their 2013 single "Cat at Night" became their most recognizable track, though their unconventional approach meant they never quite fit into mainstream channels.

Some critics found their music challenging to access, while others responded to its atmospheric qualities. The band's work tended to invite more contemplation than commercial celebration, and they often operated outside typical industry support.
