Avaya formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s when Ethan James met David Rodriguez and Emily Carter. They shared an interest in grunge and alternative rock. Their debut album 'Echoes of a Broken Heart' came out in 2006, and its single 'Pathetic' got some radio play.
James had prescription drug problems around 2009, which led to a canceled tour and a break. The band came back together after that. They released 'Unveiled' in 2012 and 'Ashes to Dust' in 2015.
