Ave De Rapina

Ave De Rapina formed in Recife in 1994 with Anderson Ferreira on vocals, Pedro Guedes on guitar, Beto Galego on bass, and Marcelo Costa on drums. They came up during a period when rock wasn't the dominant sound in Brazil, which made finding an audience a slow process.

Their debut album 'Sons, Baladas e Blues' arrived in 1997 and gave the band its first real break. The title track became something of a signature piece for them, a sparse ballad that caught people's attention. The album established their basic approach, which pulled from rock, folk, and blues without settling neatly into any one category.

They kept recording after that, putting out albums like 'Músicas para Churrasco' in 2000 and 'Infinitamente' in 2003. Their work led to collaborations with other Brazilian artists, including Cássia Eller and Lenine. Songs like 'Suicida' show the darker, more introspective side of their writing that ran alongside their more melodic material.
