Ave LÚcifer came out of the Brazilian underground with vocalist and guitarist Augusto "Gus" Lamas at the center. He brought together drummer Artur "Lobo" Almeida, bassist Adriano "Xoão" Ribeiro, and guitarist Leonardo "Leo" Gomes. Their music leaned into black metal, death metal, and thrash, with lyrics and stage shows that used satanic imagery.
Their song "O Grande Triunfo do Exército de Satã" became something of an anthem, and it gave its name to their 2009 album. They put out other records like "Catedral dos Pecados" in 2003 and "Pecado Sem Fim" in 2015. The band's uncompromising approach drew criticism from religious groups, but they kept going with the same lineup of Lamas, Almeida, and Ribeiro for a long stretch.
