Aviva Banda formed in 2007 when childhood friends Leandro Vaz and Paulo Vaz started playing music together in São Paulo. They were later joined by bassist Rafael Vasconcelos and drummer André Mendes. Their early sound drew from both punk energy and Brazilian MPB traditions.
In 2013, their debut single "Meu Herói" became a hit across Brazil. They followed it with their first album "Autoestima" in 2015, which mixed rock, pop, and Brazilian rhythms.
In 2017, guitarist and co-founder Paulo Vaz died suddenly. The band continued working after his death, releasing albums like "Doze Flores" and "Lado Bom." Their song "Para o Alto" appears among their most recognized tracks.
