Aware formed in the early 2000s as a duo of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass. Their debut EP, 'No Belongings,' came out in 2007 and gave them some notice. They put out four studio albums between 2007 and 2017, including 'Violence in a Quiet Room' and 'The Dream.'
Alice Glass left in 2014, citing creative differences. After that, Kath kept making music under the Aware name with other vocalists. The band's sound was sparse and electronic, with hypnotic rhythms and ethereal vocals.
Their music appeared in some films, television shows, and video games. They never really broke through to a mainstream audience, but their minimalist approach found listeners in electronic and experimental circles.
