Axenstar formed in 1988 in Falköping, Sweden, with Thomas 'Tompa' Lindén on vocals, Andreas Johansson on guitar, Kenneth Johansson on bass, and Magnus Eriksson on drums. They put out their first album, 'Eternity,' in 1991, followed by 'On the Verge of Infinity' in 1993.
In 1995, the band released 'Death in Heaven,' an album whose cover art showing a burning church led to some legal trouble with religious groups. They kept recording after that, with albums like 'The Inquisition' in 1999 and 'Aftermath' in 2005. Their songs include 'All I Could Ever Be' and 'Blackout.'
