Ayra Starr was born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe in Cotonou, Benin Republic. She started singing in church choirs as a child, and after moving to Nigeria, she eventually signed with Mavin Records.
Her debut single "Away" came out in 2021 and got her noticed. That same year she released her first album, "19 & Dangerous." Songs like "Rush" and "Bloody Samaritan" have become some of her most recognizable tracks.
She's worked with other artists including CKay on "Beggie Beggie" and Kelly Rowland on a remix of "Bloody Samaritan." In 2022 she put out a second album called "Celestial."
