Az Yet was a neo-soul quartet from Oakland, California that formed in the mid-1990s. The group originally consisted of Anthony Kelloway, Keith Mitchell, Marc Nelson, and Jerome "J. Sw!ft" Harmon. They released their self-titled debut album in 1996, which included their biggest hit "Hard To Say I'm Sorry." That song reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Their sound blended smooth vocal harmonies with soulful arrangements. Other tracks from that debut like "Care For Me" and "Sadder Than Blue" showed their ability to handle both upbeat R&B and more reflective material. The group's lineup changed when Marc Nelson departed in 1997, leaving a gap in their vocal blend.
Az Yet released three more studio albums after their debut: "Az Yet II" in 1999, "Back to Basics" in 2001, and "Forever" in 2018. Their music maintained the soulful approach of their early work while incorporating some hip-hop elements through Harmon's contributions.
