Background notes

Archive material and source history

B. Dolls were a disco trio in the 1970s made up of BeBe Buell, Cindy Bullens, and Susan Leduc. Their debut single "Disco Town" became a hit in 1976, with its driving rhythm and group harmonies catching the moment. They followed it with another single called "Dancing in the Moonlight."

They put out a self-titled debut album in 1976, then released two more albums, "Bella Donna" in 1977 and "Fantasy" in 1978. Buell had a powerful voice, Bullens sang lead with a sweeter tone, and Leduc brought a sultry quality to their sound. Their stage costumes and lifestyle drew some attention at the time.

After the disco era faded, their music kept turning up on classic rock radio. BeBe Buell later became known for her relationship with musician Todd Rundgren and as the mother of actress Liv Tyler.
