B.A. formed in São Paulo in 1999 as a quartet. Their early single "Meu Tudo, Meu Ar, Meu Chão" connected with listeners and became something of a national anthem for a certain generation. The band's sound mixed electronic elements with soulful melodies, which wasn't the most common approach in Brazilian music at the time.

The original members were Nathália Damini on lead vocals, Andre Barreto on guitar, Marcos Serra on bass and synthesizers, and Marcelo Lobato on drums. Their music had an energetic, groove-driven quality that came through in songs like "Fim da Fila" and "Não Sou Nada Sem Você." They faced some resistance early on for not fitting neatly into traditional genres, but they kept at it through live shows and album releases.

The band denied that was their intention. They continued making music that blended electronic beats with more organic instrumentation, with tracks like "O Que Eu Vou Fazer" and "Que Delicia Eu Quero Mais" showing their range from introspective to more playful moods.
