Babies formed in Brazil in the early 1980s with Baby do Brasil on vocals, Pepeu Gomes on guitar and vocals, Walter Villaça on bass, and Dadi Carvalho on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1983, followed by 'Pânico' in 1984 and 'Nada te Turba' in 1986. They mixed Brazilian rhythms with rock and pop, and Baby do Brasil's voice became a recognizable part of their sound.
Some of their lyrics touched on sexuality and social taboos, which drew criticism from conservative listeners at the time. Their style didn't fit neatly into existing genre categories, which sometimes made them a talking point beyond just their music.
After not releasing new material for more than twenty years, Babies returned in 2012 with the album 'Não Vá (A Nota e o Tom).' The title track 'Não Vá (A Nota e o Tom)' and songs like 'O Mesmo Som' and 'Sem' showed the band picking up where they left off, with the same melodic sense and vocal arrangements that had defined their earlier work.
