Babilônia formed in Mexico City in 1998, with members including vocalist María del Mar Bonet, guitarist Eduardo Fernández, and drummer Jorge Rodríguez. They released four studio albums between 2000 and 2010, starting with their self-titled debut. Their sound mixed rock, folk, and electronic elements, often anchored by Bonet's distinctive vocals.
The band is best known for the 2003 album La Demonia, whose title track became a standout. Songs like Pode Pá! and Ta Difícil also appeared in their catalog. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social and spiritual themes, which drew attention and occasional pushback from listeners.
After Piedra Lunar in 2010, the group's activity slowed. Their music, particularly La Demonia, has kept a following in Mexican rock circles without much recent output.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
