Baby Venas

Baby Venas started playing together in Mexico City in the early 2000s. They took their name from the idea of veins as a playful reference to the lifeblood in their music. Their first album, '3 Mil Telas', came out in 2009 and mixed cumbia with rock and pop. Ariza sings and plays guitar for the band.

Later records like 'Colores' and 'La Fiebre' added reggae, ska, and soul to their sound. Songs such as 'Bala V' and 'Corre' show how they kept shifting styles without settling into one groove. They built a following by playing shows steadily, even when things weren't easy early on.

They haven't put out a huge stack of albums, but what's there feels like a band figuring things out as they go. The music doesn't try to be a grand statement, it's just what they were playing at the time.
