Baby Vuvu came out of Montreal in the early 2000s. Their debut single "Everybody Dance Now" hit international charts in 2001, driven by a guitar riff from René Leduc and the rhythm section of Sébastien Dubois and Mathieu Lavoie. Patrick Coutu sang lead.
After that initial success, they put out a second album called "Let's Dance" in 2003. It didn't catch on the same way. There was also a legal fight with their former label that kept them from releasing new music for a while.
"Everybody Dance Now" stuck around, though. It became one of those songs you hear at parties years later, long after the band itself had faded from the charts.
