Babylon Sad

Babylon Sad formed in Boston in 1982 around musician Kevin K, who performed as Kevin K. Kill. The early lineup included Peter Godwin and Debbie Hill, and they released their first recordings on their own K422 Records label. Their debut album 'A Bit Old-Fashioned' came out in 1984, with the title track becoming one of their better-known songs alongside others like 'Chivalry' and 'Faithful'.

Their sound was described as electro-industrial, with a focus on atmospheric textures and what some called unsettling samples. The band went through several lineup changes over time, with members like David J appearing on the 1986 album 'No Reason to Live' and Robert Lowe joining for later work. They collaborated with figures from the industrial scene including Genesis P-Orridge and John Balance.

Babylon Sad released five studio albums before disbanding in 1990. Their later records like 'Madhouse' from 1988 showed a shift toward harsher, more experimental territory. The group maintained a cult following rather than mainstream success, with their music often exploring darker themes that some found challenging.
