Babylove & the Van Dangos formed in the early 2000s ska scene with Babylove on vocals and Van Dango on guitar. Their debut album 'Rudeboy' came out in 2004, featuring the title track that became something of an anthem in ska circles. They followed it with 'No Retreat, No Surrender' in 2006 and a self-titled album in 2008.
Their sound had a brass section with Andy McIntosh and Matt Livingstone, plus a bassist called Mr. T-Bone and a drummer known as Skinner who left early on. Songs like 'Brand New Beat' and 'Gangster' kept things danceable while 'Politrixian' showed they weren't shy about saying what they thought.
They played a straightforward kind of ska with enough energy to get people moving, and 'Rudeboy' in particular stuck around at festivals and clubs after they were done recording.
