Backstabbers Incorporated came up in the early 2000s as a trio with John Smith on vocals and guitar, Paul Jones on bass, and Michael Murphy on drums. They put out albums like 'A Warehouse Full of Mailbombs, And Not One Fucking Stamp' in 2001 and 'Encyclopedia of Hate' in 2005. Their song titles alone, 'Burn Small Talk to the Fucking Ground,' 'Even Slaves Will Be Swimming in the Blood of the Iron Fist', give you a sense of where they were coming from.
Their shows could get rough. In 2006, a Denver concert turned into a riot that led to arrests. The band broke up in 2010. After that, Smith went solo, and Jones and Murphy started other projects.
