Backtrack formed in Portland, Oregon, with Aaron Weiss on vocals, Kevin Corcoran on lead guitar, John Askew on rhythm guitar, Matt Burns on bass, and Colin Frangicetto on drums. Their early material had a raw, grunge-influenced sound that showed up on their 2004 debut album 'The Deafening Echo.'
They released several albums over the next decade, including 'Silence Like Glass' in 2006 and 'Phoenix Rising' in 2010. Their song 'Animals / Maps' became one of their better-known tracks, with Weiss's vocals carrying themes of isolation and redemption over a brooding arrangement.
Later work like 'Darker Days' in 2016 continued in a somber vein, and they've recorded various covers and mashups like 'Wake Me Up / Titanium / Don't You Worry Child - EDM Mashup Cover (A Cappella).' Other original songs include 'Their Rules,' 'Wash Away,' and 'Guilty Conscience.'
