Baco formed in Belo Horizonte in 2015 with rappers Diomedes Chinaski, Djavan, and Ret. Their music pulled from Brazilian funk and American hip-hop, though they worked in a more experimental space than either tradition might suggest.
Their 2021 album "Não Faz Sentido" gave the group its most recognizable song. The track became something of an anthem for a certain segment of Brazilian youth, though the band's style and lyrics also drew criticism from some quarters.
Baco released several albums, including "Bluesman" in 2017 and "Bacorama" in 2019. Diomedes Chinaski handled much of the writing, while Djavan produced the music.
