Bad Cookies formed in Los Angeles in 1984 with Mike Watt on vocals and guitar, George Hurley on bass, and D.H. Peligro on drums. Their self-titled debut came out in 1987 and included 'Baratas,' a song about the cockroaches in their rehearsal space that got some alternative radio play.
Their second album, 'Whose Generation?,' arrived in 1989 and shifted toward a more experimental, politically charged sound. The band was known for intense live shows that sometimes turned confrontational with audiences.
By the early 1990s, creative differences between Watt and Hurley became public, and Peligro's personal struggles added to the tension. The group dissolved in 1994.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
