Badalera formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1991, with Neguinho do Samba as their vocalist. Their sound pulled from samba-reggae and other Afro-Brazilian rhythms. The band's 1992 debut album was called 'Axé Divino,' and they put out another record titled 'Nação Romântica' in 2019.
Their song 'Aquela Menina' came out in 1993 and became widely popular. It's one of the tracks people still know them for, along with 'Badalera' and 'Meu Querer.' Neguinho do Samba's lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which drew attention beyond just the music.
The group included musicians like guitarists Rodrigo Almeida and Jorge Zarath, bassist André 'Negão' Barreto, and drummer Maicon 'Pretinho' Oliveira. They worked together on those albums and the songs that defined their run.
