Badass came out of Los Angeles in the late 1970s with a raw, energetic take on punk. Their 1982 single 'Astro Zombies' became an anthem that got them wider attention. The band's core lineup included Klaus Fluoride on bass and vocals, Dez Cadena on vocals and guitar, Rikk Agnew on guitar and vocals, and John Biafora on drums.
They put out a string of albums in the early 1980s, including 'Pure Energy' in 1981 and 'Back from the Grave' in 1982. Dez Cadena left the band in 1983 and was replaced by Greg Hetson. Their sound had some rock and metal in it, but it stayed rooted in that fast, loud punk energy.
