Badger Song

Badger Song formed in the Scottish Highlands with Ailsa Macleod on vocals and harp, Innes Scott on guitar and vocals, Rory Butler on bass and vocals, and Alison Laing on fiddle and vocals. They released their debut album Endless Song in 2005, which included the extended instrumental piece of the same name. Their music draws from traditional Scottish folk, with arrangements built around harp, fiddle, and layered vocals.

Their approach to traditional material has drawn both appreciation and criticism, with some listeners feeling they've commercialized aspects of Scottish folk heritage. The band has explained they aim to reinterpret these melodies for contemporary audiences rather than simply preserve them. They've released several albums including The Northern Sky in 2010, A Tapestry of Tales in 2015, and The River's Flow in 2019.

Badger Song has toured in the UK and Europe, performing live sets that emphasize storytelling and the interplay between their instruments. Their sound remains anchored in the textures of harp and fiddle, with vocal harmonies that give their folk arrangements an ethereal quality.
