Bafochi formed in 1998 as a group of musicians from Argentina's Andean regions. Their lineup included Facundo Saravia on vocals and charango, Mariano Cantero on guitar and vocals, Marcelo Berbel on percussion, and Pablo Lobos on bass. They put out their first album in 2001.
Their song 'El Charanguito' came out in 2008 and became widely known. It's named for the small Andean stringed instrument that Saravia plays. Other tracks like 'La Pajita' and 'Limeña' also appear in their catalog.
They've played at places like the Montreux Jazz Festival and New York's Lincoln Center. Their albums include Pachamama from 2004 and Revolución from 2012.
