Bagaskara Katon formed in Yogyakarta in the early 2000s. The band's name comes from two Javanese words meaning 'sun' and 'west.' Their lineup includes Bagas Wiratama on vocals and guitar, Katon Bagaskara on guitar and vocals, Indra Prasta on drums, and Aryo Widiyanto on bass.
They're best known for their version of 'Anak Negeri,' which became something of an anthem. Other songs like 'Bukan Semata' and 'Lara Hati' also found an audience. They released several albums, including a self-titled debut in 2005 and the 'Anak Negeri' album in 2008.
They kept working, putting out albums like 'Indonesia Tanah Airku' and 'Bangkit' in the following years.
