Bahamut formed in Pamplona in the early 2000s with Javier Cardoso on vocals and guitar, Carlos León on guitar, Miguel Gabaldón on bass, and Víctor Sánchez on drums. Their debut album 'Suspiro Gélido' came out in 2003, mixing heavy metal with atmospheric synths.
In 2003, drummer Víctor Sánchez died in a car accident. The band continued with Óscar Carbonero taking over on drums. They released six studio albums between 2003 and 2020, including 'Devocional' in 2007 and 'La Sombra y la Luz' in 2020.
Some of their lyrics drew criticism for being dark and introspective, with accusations that they glorified violence and despair. The band defended the work as reflecting life's complexities.
