Bailarina 77 formed in Mexico City around 2017. Their debut single "Roast Yourself Challenge (Mi Hija y Yo)" with Amara caught on quickly online, which gave them some early attention. The band includes Mariana Perez on vocals, Omar Góngora on guitar, Andres Belausteguigoitia on bass, and Pavel Loaria on drums.
They put out an EP called "La Vida es una Danza" that had features from Christina Rosenvinge and Monsieur Periné. Their sound pulls from pop and electronic music alongside some Mexican folk elements, though they've gotten some pushback for lyrics that poke at social norms and the music industry itself.
Their live shows are known for being energetic. They've kept releasing singles and EPs since that first viral moment, working within that mix of traditional and contemporary sounds without smoothing out all the edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
