Baixo e Voz

Baixo e Voz is a Brazilian gospel duo made up of Valmir Bessa on bass and Edilberto Bessa on vocals. They started releasing music in the mid-1990s, with their first album 'Santo, Santo, Santo' coming out in 1994. That title track became one of their most recognizable songs.

Their music often works with straightforward gospel themes, heard in songs like 'Amigo de Deus' and 'Esperança'. The bass and vocal arrangement gives their sound a particular character, less about complex production and more about that direct combination.

Some of their other albums include 'Deus É Mais' from 1996 and 'Som da Liberdade' from 1998. They kept recording into the early 2000s with releases like 'Intimidade' and 'Conexão'.

Early on, there was some pushback from certain religious circles who felt their approach leaned too secular. They've generally sidestepped making that a central part of their story, focusing instead on the music itself.
