Balada K

Balada K formed in 2001 with Bruna Caram on vocals, Rafael Ramos on guitar, Rodrigo Chedid on bass, and Leonardo Costa on drums. They released their self-titled debut that same year, though early recognition was slow to come.

Things shifted in 2004 with the single 'Odeio Amar Você.' The song's direct lyrics about conflicted love connected with listeners and became a hit. It gave the band its title track for their second album that year.

Their music often dealt plainly with difficult emotions, which drew criticism from some quarters for being too dark. They kept releasing records anyway, putting out albums like 'Dois Amores' in 2006 and 'Baladas do Brasil' in 2009. Another track, 'Brega rasgado,' also became one of their better-known songs.

By 2015 they had released 'Cinco,' their fifth studio album. The group's sound moved from its initial folk leanings toward something that mixed rock and pop with Brazilian music, but they kept writing in that straightforward, emotional vein.
