A Mexico City band that blended traditional sounds with pop in the 1990s.
For a quick sense of them, listen to 'Caravana' and 'Escorpiones de Tequila'. That's the sound they were working with.
Bambikina mattered because they actually tried something different in the mid-90s Mexican scene, mixing traditional sounds with pop structures. That mix drew criticism from purists, but it also gave them their most recognizable track, 'Caravana'. The plagiarism accusations around that song in 1998 became part of their story, even though they were eventually cleared.
They formed in Mexico City in 1993 and released their first album the next year. 'Caravana' came out in 1997, followed by two more studio albums before a live recording in 2003.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
