Bamboo formed in 1996 in Marikina City, Philippines, with Francisco "Bamboo" Mañalac on vocals, Ira Cruz on guitar, Nathan Azarcon on bass, and Vic Mercado on drums. Their debut album "No Ordinary Mornings" came out in 1999, and its single "Noypi" became a national anthem of sorts for Filipino pride.

Over the next decade, they released albums like "Light Peace Love" in 2002 and "Hallelujah" in 2003, with songs that often addressed social issues. The band's lineup changed over time, with Alvin Cornista joining on drums and Vick Macaraig on keyboards.

They've put out eight studio albums through 2021, including "Tomorrow's Weather" in 2006, "We Stand As One" in 2009, and "Light Up the Night" in 2021. Some of their other songs include "Alpha Beta Omega," "As the Music Plays," and "Children Of The Sun."
