Banana Eletrica formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2006 with Rafael Moreira on vocals and guitar, Pedro Coelho on bass, and Leo Régis on drums. Coelho left in 2009 and was replaced by Leo Vaz, who has been with the band since. They've put out four albums: their self-titled debut in 2013, followed by 'Neon Noir' in 2016, 'Vórtice' in 2019, and 'Clarão' in 2022.
Their music pulls from psychedelic rock and experimental electronica, with some Brazilian touches. The song 'No Vai e Vem Das Ondas' became something of an anthem for them. They've also worked with other artists like Criolo, Tulipa Ruiz, and Curumin.
Some critics found 'Neon Noir' a bit too experimental, but the band kept going their own way. They're still based around Moreira, Vaz, and Régis.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
