Banana Girl was a four-member South Korean girl group with Jenny, Cyon, Yumi, and Haneul. They had a bubblegum pop sound and upbeat choreography that got attention with their song "Bubi Bubi." That track became their most recognizable hit, though it also drew some criticism from conservative groups who found its lyrics suggestive.
Their other songs included "Kiss Kiss," "Chocolate," and "Crazy Crazy Crazy." In 2023 they released a debut album called "Dream Pop" that showed a shift toward more mature material. The group's image stayed playful and feminine throughout their run, which seemed to work for their audience even when it limited how they were perceived.
They never really shook the association with "Bubi Bubi," but they kept putting out music that leaned into catchy, bright pop. The four members each brought something different, Jenny handled most of the vocals, Cyon rapped and danced, Yumi had an airier tone, and Haneul was the youngest with a flexible range. They didn't last long enough to build a deep catalog, but they left a handful of songs that still get played.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
