Band Marino

Band Marino formed around songwriter John Marino, with Dave Edwards on guitar, Matt Carter on bass, Tim Davis on drums, and Sarah Jones on keyboards. Their 2004 debut album 'American Patriot' gave the band its name and a title track that became their most recognizable song.

That album included tracks like 'Arlee Hayes' and 'Dear Balladeer,' which shared the straightforward, earnest approach of their better-known material. Their lyrics about national pride and American themes found an audience but also drew criticism from some who found the messaging too blunt.

They followed up with albums called 'Freedom's Call' and 'United We Stand,' continuing in a similar vein. The band's sound stayed grounded in rock arrangements with clear melodies, avoiding much of the production trends of their era in favor of a direct presentation.
