Banda 10 da Bahia formed in 1991 in Salvador, Brazil, with Henrique Marques and Serginho Mergulhão as founding members. They found their audience a few years later when their 1997 album 'Alma Brasileira' took off, particularly the track 'Amor Perfeito.' That song became a staple, helping define their place in the regional scene.

Their music pulled from samba and axé, giving it a recognizable Brazilian rhythm, but they worked in elements of pop and funk too. Songs like 'Amo Você' and 'Bororó' carried that mix, straightforward in structure but built for movement. The lineup included Neto Bahia on bass and Anderson Gomes on drums, keeping the foundation tight behind Marques's vocals.

Over time, the group dealt with personal struggles and legal trouble, including drug-related issues and debt problems. These matters sometimes overshadowed the music, but the band kept recording and performing through the early 2000s.
