Banda 20! formed in São Paulo in 2002, mixing punk rock with Brazilian pop. Bruno Gouveia sang lead, and their early songs like 'Mamãe, Quero Ser Emo!' and 'Meu Sonho' caught on with a younger crowd.

That 2004 single 'Mamãe, Quero Ser Emo!' became their breakout hit, though some critics questioned how it handled emo themes. The band's lineup shifted over time, guitarist Chico Chicão left in 2006, and Gouveia and bassist Fábio Barbosa kept things going with new members.

By 2009 they'd put out the album 'Camaleão,' which pulled in ska and funk alongside their rock sound. They kept recording into the 2010s, with songs like '9 de Fevereiro' and 'Cisma Minha' showing their range.
