A Bahian band that blended funk, soul, and samba into a sound that caught on across Brazil.
For a quick sense of their thing, 'Quanto Custa o Seu Sorriso' and 'Canto Ao Pescador' are the ones. They frame that Bahian blend pretty well.
They came out of Salvador in 1998 with a mix that felt a little unconventional at the time, funk, soul, and samba together. Songs like 'Quanto Custa o Seu Sorriso' got big nationwide, and they've worked with names like Carlinhos Brown and Gilberto Gil. Their debut was 'O Som do Samba Rock' in 2000.
They formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1998 and put out their first album two years later. Later records included 'Tô na Boa,' 'Oi, Mundo Afora,' and 'Oxente, Axé.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
