Banda Amnésia formed in Porto Alegre in 1998 with Fernando Carniglia on vocals, Felipe Araújo on guitar, André Müller on bass, and Rodrigo Tavares on drums. Their debut album 'Abstrata' came out in 2000 and included 'Aquela Hippiezinha,' which became their breakout track. They followed it with records like 'De Cabeça pra Baixo' in 2002 and 'Perdidos na Selva' in 2005.
Carniglia's diagnosis with bipolar disorder in 2002 led to a brief break, but the band returned in 2004. Their lyrics sometimes touched on mental health and social issues, which drew attention. Another song, 'Dentre Labirintos,' appeared among their work.
They kept releasing albums through the 2000s and into the 2010s, including an acoustic session for MTV in 2007 and 'Zona de Conforto' in 2012. The group's sound mixed rock and alternative elements with a certain introspective quality.
