Banda Amor & Poesia formed in 2004 in Fortaleza, Ceará, with singer-songwriter Rodrigo Oliveira and guitarist Hugo Freitas. Their acoustic-driven sound and direct lyrics about relationships found an audience locally. The group later expanded to include bassist Thiago Costa and drummer Roberto Holanda.
Their 2007 song "Não Te Quero Mais" became a national hit in Brazil, though its blunt lyrics about rejecting a former lover stirred some debate. The track's commercial success brought the band wider attention, but also drew criticism from conservative groups who found its message too explicit.
Other songs like "Respiro Você," "Cadê Você," and "4 Dias" continued their focus on love and heartbreak themes. They released albums including Alma Firme in 2006, Meu Amor, Meu Poeta in 2007, and Amor & Poesia in 2014.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
