Archive material and source history
Banda Amote formed in Bahia in 1998 with vocalist Leoni Carvalho and guitarist Erivelton Silva, later adding bassist Alex Nascimento and drummer Dudu Barros. Their debut album 'Amo Você' came out in 2001, and the title track became a radio hit that helped them find a national audience.
After drummer Dudu Barros left in 2005, Ricardo Sanches joined on drums. They kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'Alma Gêmea' in 2003 and 'Encontro' in 2007, working in romantic ballads and some pop tracks. Songs like 'Destino' and 'Nem tudo está perdido' show the kind of material they were putting out during that period.
They're still playing with the same four members, Carvalho, Silva, Nascimento, and Sanches, and put out another album called 'Pra Valer' in 2011.
