Banda Apaixonada formed in Petrolina, Pernambuco in the late 1990s. The original lineup included vocalist Wanderley Miranda, guitarist Val Santana, bassist Renato Cavalcante, and drummer Cleyton Rodrigues. Their debut album 'Apaixonado por Você' came out in 2000, and its title track became a national hit that helped establish them on Brazil's forró circuit.
They've had some lineup changes over time. Cleyton Rodrigues left in 2005 and was replaced by drummer Júnior Rubim. Then in 2010, guitarist Val Santana was seriously injured in a car accident and couldn't perform for a while.
Songs like 'Caso Encerrado' and 'Isso é o Amor' show their style, straightforward forró with clear melodies and lyrics about relationships. They've maintained a steady presence in Brazilian music without the dramatic career arcs some bands experience.
