Banda Aquarella came together in São Paulo in the early 1990s. Their song 'Carta Fora do Baralho' became a hit, a ballad about unrequited love that stuck around in Brazilian pop culture. They put out their first album in 1993, simply called 'Banda Aquarella'.
They released a few more records after that, including 'O Vencedor' in 1996 and 'Tudo Pode Mudar' in 2000. Their music pulled from pop and rock, with some Brazilian rhythms mixed in. Other songs like 'Lágrimas' and 'Como Esquecer' show the kind of introspective lyrics and melodic sense they were known for.
The band's lineup stayed pretty steady with Maurizio Manieri on vocals, Marcelo Sussekind on keyboards, Rafael Zara on guitar, and Alexandre Fontanetti on bass. They worked out of São Paulo, building a following there over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
