Banda Arquimedes formed in São Paulo in 1999 around singer-songwriter Arquimedes Júnior. The group included Gilberto Nascimento on accordion, Ivanildo Moraes on bass, and Marcos Vinícius on drums. They worked with traditional Brazilian rhythms like forró and baião.
Their 2005 album 'Deixe o Tempo Passar' gave them their most recognizable song, which shares the album's title. Other tracks like 'Fugir Não É Certo' and 'Procurando Um Norte' became part of their set. They recorded several albums, including 'Forró no Coração' in 2003 and 'Raízes do Brasil' in 2010.
In 2012, Arquimedes Júnior faced plagiarism accusations regarding the melody for 'Deixe o Tempo Passar'. The legal case was eventually dismissed. The band continued performing and recording, with their live album 'Ao Vivo em São Paulo' capturing their sound from that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
