Banda Avivamento formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1980s, a group of young musicians who wanted to spread their faith through music. Their song 'Embaixador de Cristo' became something of an anthem for them, and it's still one of the tracks people know them by.
They put out a steady stream of albums through the '90s and 2000s, including 'Mensageiros' in 1996 and 'Adorando' in 2003. Other songs like 'Nada Acabou' and 'Paz Verdadeira' round out their catalog. Their approach to worship music, which sometimes drew from outside the church, didn't sit well with everyone and caused some friction in religious circles.
The band's lineup has included Anderson Freire on vocals, Leandro Borges on bass, and Mauricio Manieri on drums. They kept making music through that period, releasing 'Viver' in 2007.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
