Banda Azgade formed in Mazatlán, Mexico around 2010, playing Christian music with a banda sound. Their 2013 debut album "Sediento por Ti" included the single "Sedento por Ti," which became their breakout track.
The group's lineup included vocalist José Ignacio "Pepe" Urquijo, bassist Luis Fernando "Fer" Hernández, drummer Jesús Alberto "Chuy" Urías, and guitarist José Ángel "Gel" Robles. They followed their debut with several more albums through 2021.
In 2017, the band faced plagiarism accusations from another musician, though they were eventually cleared. Their openly Christian lyrics sometimes drew criticism from listeners who found them too religious.
