Banda Bicho do Mato (Forró)

Banda Bicho do Mato formed in 2004 in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Ceará. They started with the usual local band struggles, not much money, not much gear, but kept playing forró. Three years later, their song "É Você Que Eu Preciso" caught on and pushed them beyond their hometown.

That track became their calling card, but they kept putting out albums like "Essa Beleza Vai Afundar" in 2009 and "A Gente Dá Certo" in 2014. Their sound stayed rooted in forró while picking up bits of pop and rock along the way. Other songs like "Eu Em Você, Você Em Mim" and "A Força Dessa Paixão" kept their setlists moving.

The lineup has shifted over time, with Nando Moreno on vocals, Oliveira de Paula on accordion, Josiel Rocha on bass, and Ricardo Gusman on drums at one point. They've had some disputes over songwriting and plagiarism claims, which isn't uncommon in that scene. Through it all, they've remained a working forró band with a handful of songs that still get played at parties and on radio.
