Archive material and source history
Banda Brio formed in Guadalajara in the early 2010s, playing local bars and clubs. The group originally featured vocalist Ariel Camacho, multi-instrumentalist Ivan Ayala, and drummer Jose Ayala. Their 2014 album 'El Riel de Sinaloa' helped establish their sound, which mixed traditional Mexican banda with contemporary pop touches.
In 2015, Ariel Camacho died in a car accident. Ivan Ayala took over as lead vocalist, and the band continued recording, putting out 'El Ingrato' that same year and 'La Escuela del Rancho' in 2017. Around that time, some listeners accused their lyrics of supporting a drug cartel, though the band denied any wrongdoing.
They toured through North and South America, playing energetic shows that kept their audience engaged. Another track, 'Soube,' also found its way onto playlists, helping maintain their presence on regional Mexican radio.
