Banda Brisa formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1979 as a family project. Brothers Helio and Celso Ramos started the band with their cousin Ed Carlos and childhood friend Nilton Lessa. Helio handled vocals and guitar, Celso played keyboards and sang, Ed Carlos was on drums, and Nilton Lessa played bass.
Their debut album 'Razão de Viver' came out in 1987 and helped establish their sound. The band worked with romantic melodies and straightforward rhythms that connected with listeners, though their style didn't always fit with what was popular on Brazilian radio at the time.
In 1994 they released 'Louco Amor,' which became their most recognized song. Other tracks like 'Madrugada' and 'Na Hora do Adeus' show their consistent approach to romantic themes and accessible arrangements.
